MESSAGE FROM THE VICE CHANCELLOR
A very heartfelt and affectionate welcome to all the students who are part of this esteemed University, which celebrated its 100th year on 1st May 2022. The University of Delhi is eulogized for its exceptional contribution towards teaching, research, and service in nation-building. The Institution of Eminence (IoE) provides equal opportunity for students from different streams at various levels of education. To meet the challenges in higher education, University has accepted from time to time the Semester system, FYUP, Choice Based Credit System, LOCF, and now New Education Policy (NEP). After many rounds of discussions with various stakeholders, a common Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) was designed and has been further fine-tuned as per the suggestions received from stakeholders. University has deliberated UGCF that can align itself with NEP 2020. UGCF deject the idea of rote learning by introducing Interdisciplinary, Multidisciplinary, and Holistic education. The University of Delhi incessantly seeking environment that is best suited for creative ideas, active participation in cultural programs, sports activities and also celebrating harmony in diversity. We aspire to connect with every student by seeding Intellectuality for creative ideas, individualistic approach can work in coalition too and kindness to work for the amelioration of the underprivileged sections of the society. Through NSS and NCC, students learn to flower themselves by sowing the seeds of an unconditional, philanthropic approach for the better future of society and the country. We endeavour to ignite the spark that is inherently present in every child for the upliftment of their inner values and very much necessary for the overall better human being.
The University of Delhi has grown as one of the largest universities in India with 16 faculties, over 80 academic departments, an equal number of colleges, and over seven lakh students. Our wish is to make the university one of the core knowledge provider by empowering every inquisitive mind with the best available human resources. In the past, University has also funded Interdisciplinary Innovation Projects at the undergraduate level to better exchange ideas among teachers and students.
Our intent is to prepare our students more conscious, responsible, and independent so that more Conscious, Responsible, and Independent society can be built which fundamentally inevitable necessity for a nation to grow. To meet the different challenges aroused during Covid time, University has also started a virtual counselling section for its students to combat physical and mental concerns. Our aim is to make this place a world-class reputation where students from different parts of the world can come for studies, research, and other activities.
Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW) is an interface between students and university administration to attend the various concerns of students and at the same time attempts to make students academic journey at the University more joyful with range of activites and opportunities.
